Our mission


Payments and financial services are a strategically important area for Axfood, and now we’re extending the customer offer by integrating financial services in the Swedish food retail market that we’ve developed in close collaboration with SEB Embedded.

With embedded finance we are able to integrate financial services into our non-financial products, therefore we don’t need to become a bank ourselves to offer our customers a complete shopping experience regardless physical or digital channel.

Our first financial service released on the Swedish retail market. We identified a gap where people want to pay with their own money but don't have the same access to benefits as credit card users, and we changed that.

Pay with your own money and get rewarded

Humlakortet was a debit Mastercard built on embedded finance. Each purchase of SEK 50 or more gave the customer a point, after 20 points a reward could be redeemed in the app at some of Sweden's largest retail brands.

Increased financial control

02.

Since the consumer purchases with their own money and no credit, it meant increased control over their personal finances. Humlakortet came without a fee and any amount could be deposited to the card via Swish.

Replaced ordinary debit cards

03.

Humlakortet replaced the ordinary debit cards and was meant to be used for the daily purchases that would otherwise have been made anyway, such as transportation, food, entertainment, and purchases abroad. Humlakortet worked world wide and came without a foreign transaction fee.
